Lydia + Derek - Historic Hephzibah Baptist Church, First + Main Wedding Preview - Knightdale NC Photographer

Ya’ll, November has arrived. We’ve got 7 weddings this month, but we started off our month with a bang! On Friday, we celebrated Lydia and Derek in Knightdale. From the first time Lydia called us to chat about the details of the day, we could tell how excited she was for the ceremony. They chose a historic church where Derek’s grandparents were wed many years ago. There was nothing elaborate about the church, but the second I walked in I got a chill thinking about the history within those walls, the memories that have been made. And we were so thrilled to capture Lydia and Derek’s wedding memories there. After their intimate ceremony, we headed over to Derek’s parent’s home. They live on an amazing property with lots of little nooks and crannies that are a photographer’s dream. After photos, we headed to First and Main, a new(ish) venue in downtown Knightdale for a lively reception.

Ya’ll, Lydia and Derek go down in our books as one of our favorite couples. While on paper, so much of their day was traditional, there were also many, many unique moments and thoughtful details. Lydia’s mom crocheted her the loveliest shawl and the moment they shared together as her mother helped her put it on was so sweet. Derek’s outfit was definitely one of a kind and we absolutely loved every detail. His dog wanted to join us for photos and even wore his best tuxedo! The guys all brought along shotguns for a few photos and the boys also enjoyed photos by a tractor. Lydia’s cousin performed their first dance song live, and it was another moment of the day that gave me the chills.
