2022 Year in Review - The Greenes Photo + Films - NC Photographer + Videographer Team
Wow ya’ll. The years are flying by. I can’t believe it’s time for ANOTHER year in review post. And WHAT. A. YEAR. it has been. 2022 has been filled with many, many highs, and some lows. But we were so thankful to have you guys, our clients and followers along with us for the ride.
We were blessed to capture 55 weddings over the last year.
In 2022 we shot 17 engagement sessions.
We shot 23 bridal sessions.
We captured 38 weddings in both photo and video.
We captured 10 video-only weddings. Shout out to the ten different photographers we were blessed to work with this year. Each of you taught us something new and were so accommodating to our needs.
We captured 7 photo-only weddings.
We hit our 400th wedding mark this year. And ya’ll, you keep amazing us every time.
We shot at twenty new-to-us venues.
We had many “firsts” this year:
Our first outdoor ceremony where the temperature was below 40 degrees.
Our first “snow” day wedding, which actually ended up being more of an ice day.
We shot our first engagement session in the snow.
We had to cancel for the first time ever on a wedding when I (Diana) tested positive for covid late on a Wednesday night. Let’s hope that is our first and only time ever having to cancel.
Our first 30 year vow renewal.
For the first time we witnessed a groom serenade his bride with a song he wrote (and it was amazing).
For the first time, we almost had to call the fire department when a rogue Chinese lantern almost caught a very iconic tree at a local venue on fire.
First time a ceremony almost started late because the trolley broke down on its way to pick up the bridal party.
First time seeing a Cinnabon truck at a wedding. Yum! 10/10 recommend.
First time I almost missed capturing the first kiss because a massive clap of thunder shook me to my core.
We participated in a First Line that wrapped an entire city block. It was the first time that a first line truly felt like it was true to New Orleans tradition.
For the first time, our hearts broke for a bride who got sick at her wedding (nausea/vomiting unrelated to alcohol).
Our first ceremony in the rain. Like full-on rain. I’m not quite sure I’d 10/10 recommend, but it worked for the lovely couple.
For the first time we captured a THIRD ceremony for a couple.
We captured our first same-sex wedding.
As you can see, it has been a whirlwind of a year. I can’t finish this post without thanking EVERY single couple that trusted us to capture their big day. You guys invite us into your lives to capture one of your favorite days ever. But you leave us with memories that will last our lifetime. Thank you for letting us be a part of your family for the day. Thank you for trusting us with our ideas. Thank you for sharing stories that help us realize how meaningful certain items or moments of the day are to you. Thank you for making us feel like we have the best job ever.
And to our fellow “friendors,” THANK YOU for every part you play in the wedding day. A special shout out to the DJs/bands/"sound guys” that have helped us capture good, clean audio for the video side of things. Thank you to the hair and make-up teams that are committed to keeping the timeline on track while making our clients feel so beautiful. Speaking of feeling beautiful, we don’t get to work one-on-one with bridal boutiques and tux shops, but ya’ll… you’re a huge part of the confidence our clients wear on their wedding days. To the venue owners who are so accommodating with their space, thank you. To the coordinators/planners who “put out so many fires” before we or our clients even realize what is going on and have time to stress, you are rockstars. To all the caterers who feed us, we thank you for keeping us from becoming hangry. Florists, decorators, and rental companies, you are often there before we come and go, but we see you and you are amazing! I’m sure I’m missing some folks, but ya’ll, it’s truly a team effort in creating magical events for our couples. We know our photos/videos wouldn’t be half as good as they are without all of the hard work you put into your careers. Cheers to you all.
I literally can’t believe I’m typing this next section up. I thought I would be able to wave goodbye to these thoughts after 2020, but yet here we are. Anyone that has seen me and Will at a wedding this past year has seen us in a mask. Long story short, getting infected with covid in February upended my little world. Blood clots and long-covid have traumatized me. Wearing my mask feels like my best defense against starting back over where I began in this journey. I obviously wish I didn’t need to still be in a mask at this point, and certainly wish I didn’t have to rock a n95. But it’s what’s best for my sanity right now. 99.9% of you never said a negative word to my face about us being in masks. You just went on as normal. For that I THANK YOU. I know hearing us over these masks isn’t ideal. And I know that when you looked out at your crowd, you probably wished you didn’t have to see two masks out there. But from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for treating me the same. THANK YOU for welcoming me into your day anyways. Your kindness keeps me going on the tough days.
Okay, now that I have written a novel, let’s see some photos that recap our year!
